GO-IN! Days of workshops and round tables in Parma
6-7 February 2025

On 6 and 7 February 2025, a moment of updating, interdisciplinary comparison and planning of the next research and training activities envisaged by the PRIN2022 GO-IN! project took place in Parma. The event, organised by the Research Unit of the University of Parma, was attended by professors, researchers and students from the University of Pavia and the University of Basilicata, and by professionals from the Metaheritage srl company. The moments of discussion and comparison were also enriched by the contribution of professors and students from the University of Parma outside the project. During the first day of the meeting, held in the Council Chamber of the UNIPR Central University, the next scientific dissemination actions were established and training meetings were organised for the technicians of the Municipality of Stigliano. The operational decisions were followed by an update of the work carried out individually by the different scientific sectors involved. On 7 February, the event continued at the Engineering Education Centre in the Science Area Park. Here, discussions with the Metaheritage company enabled researchers from the three units to identify possible solutions for the development of the virtual platform envisaged by the project.

Kick Off Meeting of the European Project HEPHAESTUS -
fast survey in the PRIN2022 GO-IN! - November 2024​
On November 6, 7, and 8, 2024, the Kick Off Meeting of the European project Hephaestus, coordinated by the University of Florence and involving many international associations, companies, and universities, including the University of Pavia, was held in Florence. The meeting was an opportunity to share some best practice experiences on the topic of integrated documentation and digitization and virtual enjoyment of heritage at different scales. On November 7, Professor Francesca Picchio was invited to give a talk entitled “Fast survey for landscape documentation” in which the activities and first digital results obtained within the PRIN2022 GO-IN! project were presented. ReUSO International Conference - presentation of the project
GO-IN! diGital platfOrm for INner areas - October 2024​
On October 29-31, 2024, the 12th edition of the traveling international conference ReUSO was held in Bergamo. The event each year welcomes scholars, practitioners and researchers to reflect on the issues of preservation and enhancement of the existing. Professors and research fellows from UNIPV, UNIBAS and UNIPR participated in the conference with two contributions, addressing the issues of knowledge and promotion of fragile contexts and inland areas at risk through the development of digital documentation and representation strategies. The conference stimulated discussion among the many participating scholars on issues related to the conscious and sustainable reuse of Built and Landscape Heritage and the preservation of the historical memory of place and property. Digitization of museums in fragile areas
YOCOCU Conference - Turkey - October 2024
On Oct. 15-18, 2024, DAda-LAB researchers participated in the ninth international YOCOCU YOuth in COnservation of CUltural heritage conference in Istanbul, Turkey. The conference aims to promote constructive, critical and interdisciplinary conversations on challenges emerging in the cultural heritage sector, linking ancient traditions, current needs and future scenarios. In particular, this ninth edition addresses the topic of heritage musealization. Researchers from the University of Pavia presented a paper on the digital and interactive documentation and restitution activities conducted in the Museo del Contadino in Stigliano, as part of the GO-IN! project. The YOCOCU association invites senior and young professionals, students and researchers to increase and strengthen their awareness of being the main actors in the present and future society and to develop new ways and methods of knowledge. KUI Conference - Culture and Computer Science 2024
GO-IN! diGital platfOrm for INner areas - October 2024
The annual “Culture and Computer Science” conference series focuses on examples of best practices, challenges, and future trends at the intersection of culture and computer science. Beginning in 2023, the German KUI conference “Kultur und Informatik” became itinerant with meetings first in Lisbon, Portugal, and then in Florence, Italy (Oct. 03-04, 2024). In particular, the event held in Florence invited researchers, scholars and practitioners to reflect on the theme “From Humanism to Digital Humanities.” The DAda-LAB laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia, in agreement with the other units afferent to PRIN2022 “GO-IN!”, participated in the call for papers of the conference, with a paper, selected for publication, on digital acquisition strategies for the knowledge and representation of the historical heritage of inner areas: UAVs photogrammetryfor inner areas documentation. Researchers' Night in Pavia - Project Presentation
GO-IN! diGital platfOrm for INner areas - September 2024
On September 27, 2024, numerous activities were organized in Pavia on the occasion of the European SHARPER Night . From 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., in the historic courtyards of the Central University, students, PhD students and professors of the University of Pavia were able to present their projects to citizens , engaging with a large audience of all ages. The DAda-LAB laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia, in agreement with the other units affiliated with PRIN2022 "GO-IN!", actively participated in the event by presenting the developments of research on internal areas and some initial results, digital and concrete, obtained following the missions carried out in Basilicata. Among the products exhibited, a three-dimensionally printed urban model at a scale of 1:500 of the historic center of Stigliano . 3D printing has made it possible to develop an educational game for children, for the recognition and transposition from the photographic image to the 3D model of the main buildings of the village. International Summer school of the PRIN 2022 project
GO-IN! diGital platfOrm for INner areas - July 2024

From 8 to 13 July 2024, the International Summer School within the PRIN 2022 project ‘GO-IN!’ was held at Stigliano (MT). The Summer School was aimed at training students from the degree courses in Building Engineering-Architecture and Architecture of the three proposing universities (University of Pavia, University of Basilicata and University of Parma) and from European universities. Professors, researchers, post-doctoral fellows and students tried their hand at the application and field experimentation of different digital documentation methodologies and technologies.
The synergic action between the academy and the municipality allowed for fruitful comparisons between the researchers involved in order to field the most effective digitisation strategies for the production of reliable databases and to support the structuring of an interactive 3D GIS system on the heritage of the historic centre.

Research mission of the PRIN 2022 project
GO-IN! diGital platfOrm for INner areas - March 2024

On 17 October 2023, the project ‘GO-IN! diGital platfOrm for INner areas. Interactive virtual platforms for the enhancement of fragile contexts and their cultural heritage’, funded within the PRIN 2022 programme and promoted by the Next Generation EU and the MUR, Ministry of University and Research. The project is part of the SNAI and PNRR strands and of the regional development strategies, and is in continuity with numerous activities related to the cultural and social regeneration of the small historic centres of Basilicata. The two-year grant will be dedicated to an initial study on the sample area of the small historic centre of Stigliano (MT), in Basilicata.
On this area, from 26 to 29 March 2024, the first actions of digital documentation, analysis of the state of conservation of the buildings, census of services and territorial resources, geological survey and assessment of hydrogeological and geomorphological vulnerability were developed. The field activities, conducted by professors and researchers of the three research units, were supported and participated in synergically with the municipality of Stigliano. The study and acquisition products will be elaborated within the research laboratories involved for the realisation of a digital tool for the management and fruition of heritage, useful for the valorisation of rural economies and an increase in territorial attractiveness and sustainable tourism activities.
